Hearthstone Celebrates 100 Million Players Milestone

Hearthstone The Boomsday Project Expansion Leaks Early

Need another reason to spend money on Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone? Coming via the way of a leaked unlisted video posted up on Reddit, it’s time to welcome Hearthstone The Boomsday Project expansion. Get ready to bring on the mechs (and your wallet) when it’s launched August 7. As part of this unofficial announcement, Blizzard are launching a website where you can learn more about what this expansion offers. In addition, there is going to be a Boomsday Project card reveal livestream at 10 a.m. PST on July 23 on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel.

Blizzard is offering some incentives to people wanting to pre-purchase. You will get a 50 card pack bundle, a Golden Legendary card of the random variety from The Boomsday Project, and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back. If you have deep pockets, you can splurge on the Mega Bundle that contains all of the previous extras, but this more expensive bundle gives you an 80 card pack bundle instead of 50 plus a new Warlock Hero Mecha-Jaraxxus. If you have even deeper pockets, apparently you can buy both of these pre-order packages for double the value. What that exactly means price wise, we’re not sure at this point.

Within today’s leaked information, there is a mention of three card packs and a random Class legendary minion card that can be acquired for a limited time after Hearthstone The Boomsday Project launches. Presumably these items are free but they aren’t officially stated as such. It might be wise to offer something as a freebie since the Hearthstone community has been getting restless in recent months with the amount of money being spent to keep up with the new cards being released. The risk of course is pushing the costs too high and then losing the audience. So far Blizzard Entertainment has been able to keep fans happy regardless of the money being spent to play.

Hearthstone The Boomsday Project expansion is made up of 135 new cards, with some interesting twists. Some of the notables include:

  • Legendary Spells – new spells for each class such as draw the rest of your deck as one example
  • Omega Project – enables a Battlecy provided you have 10 Mana Crystals
  • Keyword: Magnetic – can be played normally or share with another mech to combine their health, attack and ability
  • Single-Player Campaign – It’s called The Puzzle Lab
  • Possibly a new Warrior Hero as teased in the trailer

Get ready to open up your wallets to pre purchase Hearthstone The Boomsday Project soon or save your pennies until it launched August 7. If you’re taking a pass on this expansion, no worries because there is another set to release by the end of this year as well. As they say, if you wanna play, you gotta pay.
