Every mainline Assassin’s Creed after the first game has had some sort of post-release downloadable content. So it’s not exactly a surprise that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will have DLC; the surprise lies within the contents of its DLC. Although, according to a recent survey, Ubisoft might have hinted at what may be within the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey season pass.
Twitter user TheCodexNetwork unveiled the survey emailed out by publisher Ubisoft. The survey suggest the following items:
- A new storyline set in a new area
- New missions in the same world as the main game
- A pack of Helix Credits (the games microtransaction currency)
- DLC that expands player progression (new gear, abilities, level cap)
- Exclusive perks like “permanent boosters”
- DLC early access
- Weekly episodic story missions with established characters
- A DLC with a new main character and its own progression system
- New armor, weapons, and outfits
- A new mode with magic or mythical creatures that aren’t typically in the series
- Exclusive items for season pass holders
- New abilities not in the main game
All of these seem within the realm of possibilities for an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey season pass. Past games have done most of what this list has on it. Assassin’s Creed Origins had two large expansions in two new areas. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag had Freedom Cry, which was also a standalone piece of DLC that focused on a different character.
Assassin’s Creed 3 even had the episodic The Tyranny of King Washington, which featured an American president who tried to destroy democracy and become king. As realistic as that might seem, it showed the franchise’s willingness to delve deeply in the nonfiction realm.
Ubisoft has not officially stated what the contents of the season pass will be. However, they’ll gladly accept payments for it right now in the $99.99 Gold Edition and $119.99 Ultimate Edition since it is not available separately at this time. The official description for the season pass currently states: “Continue your odyssey with the season pass and access recurring major story content. More details coming soon.”
