Blade Strangers Crossover Fighting Game Western Release Date Announced

Blade Strangers finally has a release date in the west for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, according to an announcement by publisher Nicalis. Blade Strangers, coming out on August 28, 2018, is a new crossover 2D fighting game featuring characters from several games such as Cave Story, The Binding of Isaac, Code of Princess EX, and more.

Blade Strangers features a simple four-button control scheme and classic one-on-one fighting game action, making it accessible to more people. It also features several game modes at launch including a story mode, an arcade mode, a challenge mode, a survival mode, a versus mode, several online modes, and more.

The game will also come with online leaderboards, screen view and control customization, player profiles, stat tracking, unlockable items (such as character colors, portraits, and special titles), and more. Each character will have three alternate color schemes at launch with no announcement of whether more colors would be released in the future.

The new fighting game will launch with a roster of 14 characters consisting of 12 characters from existing games and two new characters created for Blade Strangers. Each character will have their own “home” stage. We’ve listed all the launch characters below and the franchises they belong to:

Blade Strangers is turning out to be a very interesting and surprising 2D fighting game, with its accessibility, graphics, and roster of characters. Blade Strangers is scheduled for release in North America for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 28, 2018, two days before the game’s release in Japan.
