DICE asked the Battlefront 2 Reddit for suggestions on what voice lines to include with two upcoming characters to the game, General Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Because it’s the internet, absolute hilarity ensued in the replies to the thread.
“As you may have heard, we’re currently building several new heroes and as part of the development process we’re looking into the scripts for each one,” said the devs in their post on r/StarWarsBattlefront. “We’d like your input on this, starting with Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous … Look forward to hearing your thoughts.” Redditors provided an ample number of suggestions, most of them for Kenobi, and all of them pretty hilarious.
DICE already confirmed that Kenobi’s iconic “Hello there!” is already on the list, leaving users on the Battlefront 2 Reddit to get creative. For Kenobi, Jerry1928 suggested “So uncivilized,” and wantsumcandi thought “Oh I don’t think so,” would be a good one. Tactical_Turtle12 pulled out all the stops and produced a bullet-point list of lines for both Kenobi and Grievous, with highlights including “I have the high ground,” “another happy landing” and “I hate it when he does that” for Kenobi, and “Jedi Scum,” “Crush them! Make them suffer!” and “Time to abandon ship” for Grievous.
There’s a wealth of really brilliant ones that draw from the films, the Clone Wars animated series, and from users’ own imaginations, all of which you can check out in the Reddit thread. Despite seeing a lot of anger from critics and fans alike for Battlefront 2‘s exploitative loot box system, which was very quickly removed and modified after the backlash, it still seems to foster quite an active and passionate community.
Whether some of the contributors to this Battlefront 2 Reddit thread actually play the game or not we can’t say for sure, what with the prolific meme status of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Star Wars prequels. But it’s likely that a significant enough portion of them are, so if you want to play alongside them you can pick up Star Wars Battlefront 2 on Origin, Xbox One and PS4.
