Dead or Alive 6 Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in Early 2019

One of the most iconic fighting game franchise that’s not developed by Capcom or Namco is finally releasing its next installment. Dead or Alive 6 is coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a planned release window in early 2019. It has been a whopping six years since the last mainline title of the franchise, Dead or Alive 5, was originally released. However, it’s not the first Dead or Alive game to be released in the current gaming generation either. That honor goes to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, which was released back in 2015.

The news was exclusively revealed by IGN earlier today. Dead or Alive 6 will feature a brand new engine, which will introduce more realistic visuals and better facial expressions. Fans shouldn’t worry, as the core gameplay remains mostly the same with its predecessors. All that martial arts goodness and interactive stages have been maintained.

Dead or Alive 6 Gameplay Changes

What’s new in Dead or Alive 6‘s gameplay is the introduction of a new combo and special attack system, dubbed Fatal Rush and Break Gauge, respectively. Players don’t need to be pro fighting gamers to execute these powerful attacks as they use simple commands.

Confirmed characters include fan-favorites like Kasumi, Hayate, Hayabusa, Helena, Jann Lee, and Zack. Dead or Alive 6 director and producer Tohei Shimbori said that the final roster for the upcoming game will include both returning characters, as well as brand new fighters.

It seems like recent times have proved to be a resurgence of sorts for fighting games. We received the superhero fighting fest Injustice 2 and the highly-anticipated Tekken 7 in 2017. This year saw the release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ and the upcoming Soulcalibur 6, which is slated for release this year as well. I’m not a fighting games enthusiast myself but there seem to be so many choices for fans these days.
