The Elder Scrolls Legends Gets New Developer a Year After Launch

The Elder Scrolls Legends is getting a new developer after Bethesda announced, on the Steam Community Forums, that it has replaced Dire Wolf Digital with Sparkypants Studios as the developer of the free-to-play digital collectible card game, a little over a year after the title launched in March 2017. According to Bethesda, the change will allow them to “to better support the game with regular updates, new features, competitive scene support and the other requests from our fans.”

The company assured fans that the change wasn’t indicative of Dire Wolf Digital’s performance, saying “Dire Wolf designed and created a wonderful card game with The Elder Scrolls Legends.” Bethesda also assured fans that core game mechanics, modes, cards, player progression, Collections, as well as all purchasable bundles, expansions, and story content will still be available.

Speaking to IGN, Bethesda’s Pete Hines also revealed that Sparkypants Studios will be working on an new client for the game that will introduce a new UI as well as new menus, visuals, and “the ability for the development team to iterate better to address balance issues and community requests faster.”

Bethesda didn’t announce when the transition to the new developer will take place or be completed as well as when the new client will be released but it’s likely that the company will reveal more during their showcase at E3 in a couple of weeks. The Bethesda E3 Showcase is scheduled for Sunday, June 10, at 6:30 PM PT over at the official Bethesda Twitch channel.

The Elder Scrolls Legends was originally released on March 9, 2017, and is available for free for iOS, Android, PC, and macOS.
