Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC Will Be Considered in the Future, Says Publisher

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2018 after Rockstar Games released the latest trailer earlier this month. Gamers have been clamoring for more details on the upcoming western open-world game but those will probably arrive during E3 2018. There’s still about four months to go before the game releases and some have already been asking about whether the game will contain DLC.

As reported by GameSpot, Take-Two Executive Karl Slatoff spoke about the matter at a Cowen & Company Conference meeting earlier today. He said: “Across the board, we do see downloadable content as an interesting business model for us. It depends on a game-by-game basis whether that makes sense.” Although that’s not technically a confirmation, it seems that DLC is entirely possible for Red Dead Redemption 2 down the line.

Slatoff added: “Rockstar has specifically said that’s something they would contemplate in the future but hasn’t made any specific announcements about Red Dead or any of their other games going forward. It is a very lucrative model for us; it is a very compelling model for consumers because it allows them to continue to engage in the game in a way they are used to engaging with the game.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC: GTA V Never Received Any DLC

Gamers were probably wondering about the question since Rockstar Games promised DLC expansions for GTA V as well but we all know how that turned out. It’s been half a decade since the game was released and instead of releasing DLC for the main game, the developer has focused its efforts on supporting GTA V Online with constant updates and content.

It remains to be seen if Rockstar Games will develop DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2. If the recently revealed gameplay details are any indication, this game could very well be as successful as GTA V and that could warrant DLC development. On the other hand, the company could opt for something like a Red Dead Redemption 2 Online concept instead. Take-Two CEO Zelnick Strauss recently reiterated that the game will definitely release according to schedule. It will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on October 26th, 2018.
