Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date Won’t Be Delayed Again, Says Take-Two CEO

Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially announced in 2016 with a release window of late 2017. It was then delayed to the first quarter of 2018 before Rockstar Games finally settled on the definite release date of October 26th, 2018. With that many delays, it’s fair for gamers to worry that the game might not be delivered on time. However, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive is here to lay our fears to rest.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date: No Further Delays

Speaking to CNBC’s Jim Cramer in an interview, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick swears with his “hand on heart” that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released according to schedule this time. He also said that there are over one thousand developers working with their “hands on their hearts” to make sure that the game releases on time.

Additionally, Zelnick spoke about how it was “conventional wisdom that westerns don’t work in games” but the success of the Red Dead Redemption franchise has changed all that. He adds that “westerns seem to find their moment at certain times” and he believes that “this is one of those moments.”

In other related news, gameplay details for Red Dead Redemption 2 were revealed earlier this month when two games journalists from IGN were given the opportunity to play a demo of the game. They said that it has a “living and breathing world” and the player will be responsible for managing the gang’s camp. The player’s horse will play a much larger role during gameplay this time around.

Zelnick also recently gave his opinion on another matter as he spoke about how legalizing gambling in eSports could benefit other game publishers and the industry as a whole. He said: “We don’t have any expectations right now. We’re simply observing that there are potential opportunities in the future and I’d be very surprised if sports gambling didn’t intersect with the industry at some point in the relatively near future.”
