Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia Patch Notes, New Update Includes Game Balancing and Increased Difficulty

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia launched earlier this month with a somewhat mixed reaction on Steam. Players complained of the game being too easy, as it fails to provide a sufficient challenge, especially in the late game. Creative Assembly also controversially removed some mainstay Total War features and experimented with new ones, which did not sit well with veterans of the franchise.

However, after testing the new patch with a public beta, the developer has finally released the game’s first major patch to the public. It features a truckload of changes and balancing tweaks based on feedback from players, including bug fixes, UI improvements, and alteration to the art in the game.

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia Patch Notes: Increased Difficulty

In order to increase the game’s difficulty, the cost of developing buildings have been increased in Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia, particularly those classified as higher tier buildings. Food costs for buildings have also been increased and each estate not held by the player faction’s king will now deduct 100 gold. All tax levels will grant public order penalties but occupying settlements will now only decrease public order by 5.

Another change that will probably affect how gamers play Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia is the altered victory conditions. These have been improved for many factions to improve gameplay variety and avoid players from achieving them too early in the game. AI bonuses have also been adjusted for different difficulty levels to increase fairness.

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia Patch Notes: Balanced Gameplay

Gameplay during battles will be more balanced this time around, as several unit balance adjustments have been implemented, especially for the previously overpowered Berserker units. Units can also now hide in trees better, improving chances for players to ambush the enemy. The game’s developer has actually detailed every little change and improvement. Readers can find the full list of changes for the game’s first major patch here in the original blog post.
