Street Fighter V Cody

Street Fighter V Adds Cody to Roster This Summer

Capcom has revealed that Cody is the next fighter to officially join the roster of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Cody Travers returns not as a criminal this time, but as the new mayor of Metro City. He will arrive on June 26th, 2018, with an updated fighting style more suited for his new position but he’s still ready for a brawl if it comes to it.

The news was recently revealed via a blog post on Capcom Unity. Cody is the fourth DLC character to be released from the Season 3 set of characters, of which there are six in total. Another one of the characters released this year was Blanka earlier in February, who remains of the most iconic fighters in the franchise. Cody wasn’t even originally a Street Fighter character as he actually debuted in Final Fight series of beat-em-up games.

Cody first appeared in the Street Fighter franchise in Street Fighter Alpha 3 and later made another appearance in Street Fighter IV. He returns in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition with a similar move set from his previous appearances but Capcom has slightly altered them. He now avoids fighting dirty, as he can no longer throw rock projectiles or unleash a Criminal Upper when not in V-Trigger.

However, Cody still has his old special moves like Ruffian Kick and Zonk Knuckle, as well as a new Tornado Sweep attack where he shoots a Hadouken-like gust of wind. His Critical Art unleashes a furious tornado which looks similar to his Criminal Upper move from previous games.

Players will have to fork out $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money to obtain Cody as a playable character in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. However, owners of the Season 3 Character Pass will automatically gain access to Cody on June 26th, 2018. Eager fans will be able to play as Cody before anyone else by attending Capcom’s booth at E3 2018.
