Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia Game Director Details Future Updates

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia was officially released last week as the first installment of the Total War franchise featured under the new “Saga” banner. Creative Assembly has refined the core gameplay in this game with many improvements and changes. Thanks to online discussion and player feedback, the developer has detailed the upcoming future updates and fixes for the game.

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia: Reason For Future Patches

The game’s director Jack Lusted is aware of the fact that Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia has received a “Mixed” reaction, as seen on its Steam page. He says that “every change is in Thrones was considered, debated and agonized over but ultimately, it’s your opinions that count, and we know that the game is currently not pleasing everyone as much as it should.” As such, he has revealed the developer’s future plans for the game in a blog post earlier today.

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia: Increasing Difficulty Level

First of all, Lusted acknowledges that some players find the game too easy or lacking sufficient challenge. He reassures them that the difficulty problem can be addressed quickly as “it is in large part down to balancing.” A patch to ramp up difficulty will be available soon on May 15th, 2018, as part of a voluntary public beta.

Lusted has also provided a list of changes and fixes included in the upcoming patch (albeit incomplete):

  • Adjusting victory conditions
  • Increased food consumption from buildings
  • Increased building costs
  • Adjustments to corruption and corruption reduction as well as certain Market income buildings to help reduce the amount of gold in the late game
  • Reduced certain bonuses from techs that were making battles too one-sided until the AI researches them as well
  • Balance adjustments to battles based on early concerns from the multiplayer community

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia: Why Old Mechanics Will Not Return

Additionally, some quality of life improvements will be added as well, including improvements to the UI and bug fixes. On the issue of Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia removing features or simplifying certain gameplay aspects from previous iterations, Lusted says that the developer will take a “look at the mechanics, especially culture and faction mechanics, and decide what may be possible to change to address this.” However, they will not be re-introducing all the old gameplay elements from Total War Attila, as some were changed “for a good reason.”
