H1Z1 Releasing on the PS4 Next Month, Open Beta Coming Soon

H1Z1 is finally making its way to consoles for the first time ever, as Daybreak Game Company has announced that the free-to-play battle royale game will arrive on the PS4 next month. Players can sign up for the closed beta or wait for the open beta, which will start on May 22, 2018.

H1Z1 producer Terrence Yee broke the news via PlayStation Blog earlier today. Alongside the announcement of the game’s imminent arrival on the PS4, the developer has added a new take on power progression during matches; players will now have to deal with constant mass air drops in order to gain access to better gear and weapons.

Six new guns have also been added to the game, including the KH43, Marauder, MK46, Combat Shotgun, CNQ-09, and Scout Rifle. Matches will now only last as long as 15 minutes, as the gas will move faster to increase the speed of the game and allow for more intense matches.

Additionally, the UI has been streamlined for the PS4 in order to make it more accessible to play with controllers. The HUD has also been simplified and the PS4 version of the game will not feature any type of crafting system. Eager players can sign up for the closed beta for H1Z1 on the PS4 here.

H1Z1 will run at 60 FPS on the PS4 Pro but no specifications have been revealed for the base model of the console. Players can purchase the pre-order bundle at $29.99, which contains bonuses such as the H1Z1 pre-order theme and other cosmetic items.

H1Z1 left early access in February earlier this year, after three years of being in Early Access. The 1.0 version released with a vehicular battle royale mode dubbed Auto Royale, which pits 30 teams of four players each. The developer then announced that the game will now become free-to-play back in March, with a focus on esports moving forward in the future.
