Report: Fortnite Auto Shotty, M249 SAW and More Weapons Found

New Fortnite weapons have been discovered in the game’s latest update. The Fortnite 3.1.0 update has proven to be a treasure trove of potential upcoming content, with dataminer Storm Shield One first finding a MOAB and other items, and now uncovering a new Fortnite Auto Shotty, M249 SAW, and other weapons detailed in the patch’s files.

New Fortnite Weapons: Auto Shotty, M249 SAW and More

First, there’s the Fortnite Auto Shotty, which “fires a wide spread of pellets at an extreme rate of fire.” This weapon can “decimate crowds at a significant ammo cost.” Sounds pretty nasty to me! If it does make it into the Battle Royale mode, I think a lot of players are going to be frustrated when dying to this. Fun to use, but not fun to die to!

Next up is the Fortnite M249 SAW, which is described as a “slow-firing, high-impact automatic rifle with a large magazine.” Unlike the minigun, which is most effective when being used to take down structures, and force players out of cover, the M249 SAW’s slow fire rate and high impact has me thinking that it will be better-suited to taking down waves of enemies. Of course, it’ll likely still be great at shooting down buildings, when necessary.

Other weapons found in the latest patch files include the Hammercrush assault rifle, which “fires slugs with high damage and impact;” the Break Action Shotgun, capable of dealing “high damage at a fast fire rate;” a standard Light-Machine gun, that appears similar to the M249 SAW but with a higher fire rate; and the Precision Rifle, an assault rifle that “fires tight bursts that allow for precise targeting in mobile mid-range engagements.”

It’s not yet clear which of these weapons will appear in the Battle Royale mode, and which will be exclusive to Save the World. For that information, we’ll have to wait for official word from Epic Games.
