We already kind of knew Square Enix would be phoning it in during the Tokyo Game Show, given the shrunken size of its booth and complete lack of playable demos (Final Fantasy III's DS-to-PSP port is playable at Sony's booth, however).
The company's only real announcement of the show follows suit: an HD pseudo-collection of Kingdom Hearts games for the PS3, due out in 2013 in Japan. Called Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix, the new pack features the original Kingdom Hearts (in its Japan-only "Final Mix" version) as well as Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (PS2 version), both in HD for the first time.
The latter of those was originally on Game Boy Advance. The game will also feature HD upgrades of the cinematic scenes from the DS game Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, viewable in a theater section of the menu. I won't include that game, just its movies.
If this pattern holds up, we'll also see Kingdom Hearts II released in HD eventually, once again with a full price tag. Perhaps it will include Birth by Sleep for some actual value, but that's all just my own speculation. And then some day we'll see them all released together for $450.
