Anti-Slavery Group To Protest Nintendo’s Wii U Event

Nintendo has many challenges they must overcome tomorrow with their Wii U launch preview event in NYC. They have to convince consumers that the Wii U is worth whatever price they decide to launch it at, and provide a compelling launch line-up of software.

But Nintendo also has a pissed off Anti-Slavery group, called Walk Free, that they must now deal with during tomorrow's event.

Walk Free will be outside of the event starting at 10AM tomorrow in protest, dressed as Mario, Luigi, and other Nintendo characters, hoisting signage that says "Nintendo, don't be a Bowser", and "Slavery is not a game".

The group is unhappy with Nintendo's use of "conflict minerals" in their manufacturing process. Conflict minerals can be tied to slavery and child labor abuses.

I'll be at the event live tomorrow. I'll do my best to snap some pictures of all of the action. Both inside and outside of the event. Maybe even score some pictures of Princess Peach being tazed, or Mario being arrested and thrown into the back of a paddy wagon.
