Red Dead Redemption 2’s Second Trailer Introduces a Brand New “Hero”

Red Dead Redemption 2‘s second trailer has arrived, introducing the upcoming sequel’s brand new protagonist, Arthur Morgan.

The game will “tell the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive,” according to Rockstar. This also means that John Marston, who was rumored to once again be the lead character in the game, is nowhere to be seen.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally intended to release later this year, but Rockstar was forced to delay the game into spring 2018. There’s no concrete release date as of yet, though judging from this trailer — which appears to mostly consist of in-engine footage — things are coming along very nicely. It seems that Rockstar has pulled out all the stop for RDR 2 in terms of visuals, and with many considering the original Red Dead Redemption to be the infamous developer’s best work to date, it’s hoped that the sequel will fire on all cylinders in every other respect, too.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set prior to the events of Red Dead Redemption, with there even a reference to Dutch — the leader of John Marston’s villainous old gang — in the trailer. It’s set for release on the PS4 and Xbox One, with no news of a planned PC release as of yet.
