Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen Finally Headed to Xbox One and PS4

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is an expanded version of the original Dragon’s Dogma, and it improved upon the first core game considerably. It also released before the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 existed, and up until now hasn’t enjoyed a modern console release. Now you’ll be able to play the game on either console with current-gen upgrades on October 3, as Capcom has just announced.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is an interesting RPG adventure, where you have your main character, but you also have up to three “pawns” or AI companions that fight alongside you. They act on their own, and they’re kind of like (weirdly enough) your servants. You can even borrow others’ pawns or share your own online for special rewards.

It’s certainly a game that takes some getting used to, but it’s dark and rewarding if you put the time into it. There’s not much else like it out there, especially with its unique pawn system, and if you need something a little off the beaten path as a breath of fresh air for the time being, you can’t go wrong with this lesser-appreciated Capcom title. But keep in mind October is still going to be fairly jam-packed with other games like The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. You’re going to have to make some hard decisions.
