Ubisoft Wants Gamers to Give For Honor a Chance with Free Weekend

For Honor has seen a dramatic decline in its active playerbase since launch. For Ubisoft, which was hoping to build the game into a premier competitive title similar to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, isn’t too happy about how the cards have fallen.

In addition to dedicated servers being in the pipeline, For Honor is hosting a free weekend from August 10th to the 13th. This will allow anyone with a PS Plus subscription to access the entirety of the game for the three day period.

Gamers will be able to pre-load the game starting August 7th, and everything will be made readily available through the PlayStation Store.

Ubisoft hopes that this will introduce new potential customers to the title, which earlier this year earned acclaim for its exciting combat.

Although sales data for For Honor hasn’t been released since launch month, Steamspy indicates that it’s sold roughly 470,000 units on Steam. In contrast, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands has sold 520,000 copies on the platform. This, along with chart performance, suggests that the title has sold through over two million units across all platforms.

Nonetheless, data suggest that For Honor has lost over 95% of its playerbase over the past five months, a dramatic figure unchallenged by other 2017 releases. Ubisoft contests this by stating that it’s “fake news“.
