Miyamoto Talks Metroid On Wii U: “There’s Certainly A Lot That You Could Do There”

Nintendo mastermind, Shigeru Miyamoto recently spoke to IGN on the possibility of a Metroid title for Nintendo's upcoming tablet-based console. Aside from another Zelda and Mario, there's no doubt that a new adventure starring Samus Aran is atop nearly every gamer's wish list. Fortunately, Mr. Miyamoto recognizes this, as well as the potential that comes from working with the Wii U to push the series to new heights.

"With Metroid it's very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U. I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that," Miyamoto explained. "I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic. There's certainly a lot that you could do there for that game."

While I, personally, would love nothing more than another Metroid title from Retro Studios, there are plenty of other first-party franchises Nintendo could bring to the HD console. From Star Fox to F-Zero, the possibilities are endless — ok, maybe not endless, but there are a lot of them. Let us know what Nintendo franchise you want to see on the Wii U in the comments below.
