Activision announced today that they are releasing a new James Bond game this Fall for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Called 007 Legends, the game will apparently tie together six James Bond movies, including the upcoming movie, Skyfall. Other than Skyfall, there is no other word on which other films developer Eurocom will be incorporating.
007 Legends will include everything you would expect from a James Bond game: gadgets, exotic locales, Bond girls, evil villains, henchmen, the traditional PPK pistol, and stunts galore. It will also reuse the Mi6 Ops missions from GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, but as they will now be on the PS3 and Xbox 360, we can expect a bit of an upgrade in the graphic quality. In addition, players can play as henchmen or villains for this missions.
Multiplayer will be its traditional faire as well, with four-player split-screen and online modes. It will also feature new maps and characters and weapons from across the series' 50-year history.
It's probably safe to say that most Bond fans will be hesitantly excited about this new title. There were a lot of (nostalgic) expectations when Eurocom relaunched fan-favorite GoldenEye 007, but the game ultimately fell flat for a wide majority of people. Keeping the game off the Wii and Wii U might help; however, since Reloaded was launched on the PS3 and Xbox as well, so I'm going to remain very cautiously optimistic.
