Whether you've played the previous Max Payne games or you're just dying for a new title from Rockstar Games, Max Payne 3 should definitely be on your radar. Seriously. Check it out.
Still, there might be a few worries for those of you who came to know and love Max through Remedy's filter. Remedy Entertainment developed both Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, but they're hands-off when it comes to developing the third entry in the title. That doesn't mean they haven't been consulted as the game was being developed.
Matias Myllyrinne, CEO of Remedy Entertainment has stated that:
It's fucking brilliant. I've had a chance to play it and we've worked with Rockstar a little bit – obviously, they're doing the heavy lifting. They're doing the development. But they wanted our input on a couple of occasions and we've had loads of our people, our core group, who worked on the first two games, give input and it's awesome.
[Rockstar Games], they just don't put out bad games. And so, in that respect, it's very – it's almost like the best position to be in. It's like somebody's making a great game and you just get to give them input, and it's already brilliant so I've enjoyed it. I can't obviously – I don't want to give any spoilers and can't give out any spoilers, but it's a testament to their attention to detail and it's a testament to their passion and dedication. It'll be worth the wait.
And what a wait it's been. Max Payne 3 will be out the week of May 15th internationally, 8 and a 1/2 years since the last Max Payne game.
