PlayStation Vita Hits US, Europe on February 22nd

PlayStation CEO and President Jack Tretton has just announced that the PlayStation Vita will be available starting on February 22nd, 2012 at all major retailers in the US, Latin America, Canada, and Europe.

Pressure to announce a release date for regions outside of Japan was likely mounting due to the overwhelming demand from PlayStation Vita importers from the West. PlayStation Vita pre-orders just kicked off in Japan earlier this week and sold out within a matter of minutes. The supply is limited, but demand is high, leading to a number of Japanese retailers to raises prices on importing and eBay prices already fetching more than $1000.

If the short supply in Japan and the massive demand is any inclination, you may want to get your pre-orders in now.
