Not owning a PS2 meant missing out on a lot of amazing games. Notable among those was Shadow of the Colossus. Team Ico is at the bleeding edge of creating games that also qualify on art. But when I think of art, I don't think Call of Duty.
That's why it worries me when Team Ico's creative director, Fumito Ueda, recently said he'd like to work on some very different games.
If I get the chance, there are things that I'd like to make or challenge myself with, yes. For instance, I'd like to make 2D games. Right now, that's what I'd like to do – it may change tomorrow. Oh, and an FPS. Yes, I'd like to make an FPS. I play quite a lot of FPS games in my free time.
This man needs help. 2D games are fine. Make those. Please! Please don't make a shooter.
Ueda also commented that Ico and Shadow of the Colossus didn't sell well because they weren't good games. This poor, poor man really needs to be told just how wrong he is. Someone please let him know that he's wrong. Steer the guy in the right direction.
