The Wipeout series has long been known as a worthwhile, fast-paced racer on PlayStation by fans and those who follow the genre, but has also been known as "PlayStation F-Zero" by those who perhaps don't. Regardless, XDev and SIE's upcoming Wipeout Omega Collection has since-inception aimed to bring the series to 4K on PS4, an endgame that we now know will arrive on June 6th of this year.
Alongside the title's release date announcement came a trailer, uploaded to the PlayStation Youtube channel to highlight the visual flourishes and vast resolution boost being awarded the three included renditions: Wipeout HD, Wipeout HD Fury (an expansion pack), and Wipeout 2048.
Sony also elaborated on what its been able to do regarding Wipeout enhancements, citing PS4 memory bandwidth advantages among the leeway granted by more powerful hardware.
If you haven't already gathered as much, Wipeout Omega Collection will be available on PS4 starting June 6th. Given that F-Zero is currently dormant and Wipeout as a series genuinely deserves your attention, the collection seems well worth checking out.
