Tell GR: Is First-Person the Future For Horror Games?

Resident Evil 7 debuts this week, marking the first time a AAA survival horror franchise has made the jump from third-person to first-person. We've seen games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Outlast demonstrate potential of the first-person view with great results, but that's not to say that it's perfect.

In most cases, a first-person view makes a game much more intense in addition to de-emphasizing environmental design, a bad thing for some experiences. However, in return emotion can be taken to greater extreme, and the developer can better control the intimacy of encounters.

Do you think first-person is the future for horror? Will Resident Evil 8 also be a first-person game? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
