Resident Evil 7 Has Crossplay On Xbox One, PC With Play Anywhere

Resident Evil 7 won't be out for another week, but those who have and will purchase the game digitally via the Xbox or Windows 10 Store will get both copies.

Xbox Head Phil Spencer announced on Twitter that Resident Evil 7 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning you can buy the game on Xbox and pick it right up where you left off (saves and all) on your Windows 10 computer at no additional cost.

This form of crossplay is highly valued by the gaming community, but some are expressing disappointment that this will not work with Steam, where Resident Evil 7 is also releasing. Of course, though, Microsoft wouldn't want to give people any reason to not use their platform, the same way Steam wouldn't want to incentivize using the Windows 10 system.

However, those who planned to purchase the game for their Xbox One now have even more of a reason to do so.

It does seem that this will count for people who have already pre-ordered Resident Evil 7 digitally, but Xbox Play Anywhere does not work for those who purchase a physical copy of the game.
