Crisis Core Remake Release Window and Trailer

FF7 Crisis Core Remake Release Window Announced Alongside Trailer

The biggest surprise of the Final Fantasy 7: 25th Anniversary Celebration stream was the announcement that Crisis Core is getting a remake. Crisis Core – Final Fantasy 7 – Reunion will offer an updated take on Zack Fair’s story, which was previously stuck on PSP. Fortunately, we won’t have long to wait as we even got a Crisis Core Reunion release window with the reveal trailer.

Crisis Core Remake gets a release window with its reveal

The Crisis Core Remake will release in Winter 2022. That’s shockingly soon, considering that Square Enix just now announced it. However, it makes a ton of sense to do a Crisis Core remake. Zack will likely have a much larger role in Final Fantasy 7 Remake than he did in the original since it seems like he’s still alive due to changes in the timeline. So, now there won’t have to be a lengthy explanation in the second part about who Zack is and why he’s important.

Crisis Core Reunion will play similarly to Final Fantasy 7 Remake with a few tweaks. We can see the Digital Mind Wave slots will be making a return during battle, and it seems like the controls may have changed a bit. Fidelity seems a bit lower than what we saw with Final Fantasy 7 Remake as well. This isn’t surprising since it’s getting a Switch release. It’ll also be coming out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on PC.

The graphics aren’t the only thing that’ll be updated for Crisis Core Reunion. The game will feature full voiceovers and new music arrangements. That’ll make for a great primer heading into the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and we can’t wait to play it later this year.
