The Last Guardian Has Been Delayed… Again

Believe it or not, up until today The Last Guardian was scheduled to hit store shelves in just a month. It sounded too good to be, and sure enough it was.

Sony has announced that The Last Guardian's release date has been moved to December 6th, 2016. For some gamers this has come as devastating, especially given the extensive timeline of the game's development. To others, it invites a sigh of relief as it has been moved from inarguably the most release heavy month of 2016 to one with releases more sparingly scheduled.

Here is what December 2016 now looks like for video game releases:

  • December 2nd: Gravity Rush 2
  • December 6th: The Last Guardian, Dead Rising 4, South Park: The Fractured But Whole
  • December 8th: Yakuza 2
  • December 20th: Eagle Flight
  • To Be Announced: Divinity: Original Sin 2

The delay is said to be required in order to "deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long". In other words, not too dissimilar to what happened to Uncharted 4: A Thief's End earlier this year.
