Ubisoft Announces Far Cry Primal

Earlier this morning Ubisoft officially announced the next entry in the Far Cry series: Far Cry Primal. The open-world game takes place in a bold new setting, specifically 10,000 BC in the Stone Age.

The story in Far Cry Primal revolves around Takkar, the last surviving member of his hunting group. Players take control of him in a place called Oros, and "they will have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros."

Familiar mechanics such as outposts, upgrades, and environmental hazards return in Far Cry Primal. The game also introduces a few new systems like the ability for dead prey to attract other predators with its stench. There may also be a saber-tooth tiger partner, if the box art is any indication.

Far Cry Primal comes out on February 23, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC release will follow in March.

I skipped Far Cry 4 even though I loved the previous game. The drastic environmental change in Far Cry Primal definitely piques my interest, so I may have to return to the series. How does the GR community feel: are you guys excited about a new Far Cry in just four months?
