Retailers Say Shovel Knight amiibo Will Release on January 8 in US

The sought-after Shovel Knight amiibo, announced by Yacht Club Games in late August, will release in Europe this November, but the US release date is rather nebulous at this point. This isn't too surprising given that Nintendo has given some of its recent releases, including Devil's Third and Yoshi's Woolly World, have had a much earlier release in Europe than the US.

But Best Buy and Target have entries for the Shovel Knight amiibo that point to a January 8, 2016 release date at a $12.99 price tag.

Not much information is available on the amiibo's features at this point, but as reported before, the Shovel Knight amiibo unlocks two-player co-op on the Wii U version of the game as well as exclusive amiibo challenge stages. The amiibo will level up by defeating enemies and gathering treasure and doing general shovelry, yes?
