Create Your Own PvP Servers in Guild Wars 2

The sequel to the already PvP-heavy Guild Wars just got an update of intriguing new PvP information out of PAX. According to MMO Crunch, Guild Wars 2 designers Colin Johanson and Eric Flannum said that the upcoming MMORPG will allow players to create their own PvP servers, as well as being able to specify their own rule-sets on them.

I am curious to see how creating your own rule-set will turn out. Will you be able to modify damage multipliers and such, effectively creating custom handicaps, or will it be relegated simply to defining victory and defeat conditions? And with GW2 continuing the free-to-play model of its predecessor, perhaps there will be a fee to run your own server? Regardless of how it turns out, this is an eyebrow-raising development and one that has a lot of potential for the PvP community.
