Bloodstained Kickstarter Enters Final 20 Hours Looking to Max Out Stretch Goals

Koji Igarashi's Kickstarter for the Castlevania spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been going about as well as anyone on the marketing team should have expecting. I can safely say this not just because of how quickly its minimum goals were met, but because with 20 hours to go (as of the time of this writing), it's very close to reaching its absolute highest stretch goal.

Funding has come pouring in from eager customers, and the initial goal of $500,000 has been met almost tenfold. The pot sits at about $4,670,000 right now. Its recent cresting of lower goals ensures a third playable character and a prequel mini game for consoles. Should the project hit $4,750,000, that mini game will also come to handhelds, and if it hits the highest stretch goal of $5 million, there will be a Roguelike Dungeon Mode.

(Edit: I've been told that PayPal donations weren't included in the number above, so the mini game is totally coming to handhelds already.)

Between this, Yooka-Laylee, and Mighty No. 9, it seems developer loyalty is stronger than publishers thought. Would you like to see more developers give their former publishers the finger and strike out on their own in times when certain games don't get the OK from "The Man?"
