Nintendo President Satoru Iwata to Miss E3

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata will miss another E3 this year as he focuses on business in Japan.

According to IGN, Iwata won't be in attendance at the event in Los Angeles. Nevertheless, he plans to be in "constant contact" with the team in L.A. as they prepare for the digital conference and Treehouse showcase.

Nintendo released the following statement to elaborate on the news.

Nintendo’s focus for E3 this year will be showcasing the many games we have coming for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Mr. Miyamoto and other members of our development team will be in Los Angeles to explain these games and the unique experiences that each offers. Mr. Iwata’s focus in this period will be on other areas of our business that require his presence in Japan.

Iwata's absence from last year's E3 was due to health issues. It's unfortunate that he has to miss another E3, but at least an illness isn't preventing him from attending this time.
