Some things are just meant to go together, like peanut butter and jelly, or lemon and lime. In gaming, that slice of heaven is when large casts of seemingly unrelated characters take each other on.

Bandai Namco Entertainment did it once with Sega and Capcom in Project X Zone, and the three are ready to do it again in the upcoming sequel, Project X Zone 2.

The game, planned for a Fall 2015 release, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with worlds created by the three publishers crossing over in a strategic, turn-based RPG format. Though Bandai Namco did not reveal the entire cast of characters at their Global Gamer's Day event for the Americas held this past week in Las Vegas, they did mention several major franchises would be represented through both new entries as well as returning characters from Project X Zone.

Players can expect to see representation from such franchises as Tekken (Jin Kazama and Kazuya Kazama), Devil May Cry (Dante, Vergil), Sakura Wars (Erica Fontaine, Ichiro Ogami), Virtua Fighter (Akira, Kage), Mega Man X (X, Zero), Resident Evil (Chris Redfield, Jill Valntine, Leon S. Kennedy), and the .hack series (Kite).

Project X Zone 2 is expected to release on Nintendo 3DS in Fall 2015.
