The Metal Gear Movie Has A New Screenwriter

The Metal Gear movie, which was announced by series creator Hideo Kojima a couple years ago, has received a new screenwriter.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has hired Jay Basu to write the film. For those who don't know of Basu, he was the co-writer on Monsters: Dark Continent, which released last year.

While the announcement of a new screenwriter is interesting and all, what should really be taken from this news is that a movie based on Konami's popular stealth-action franchise is still in the works. With all the confusion currently surrounding the state of Metal Gear and Hideo Kojima's future at Konami, one would have reasonably assumed the project was canceled.

Do you have hope that, if this movie actually does see the light of day, it will actually be good?
