Free-to-Play Halo Coming to PC in Russia [Update: Trailer]

[Update] The official announcement trailer for Halo Online has hit the web. Give it a look above and lament the fact that it's only coming to Russia… for now.

[Original] This spring, a closed beta for a new free-to-play Halo multiplayer experience will be launching for PC in Russia, developer 343 Industries announced.

The game is called Halo Online and is being created in collaboration with Saber Interactive and Innova Systems. There isn't a campaign mode, but the game runs on a modified form of the Halo 3 engine to ensure smooth performance across a wide array of gaming rigs.

There's currently no plan to release the game outside of Russia or port the title to Xbox One. Perhaps it if truly takes off, we may see 343 Industries and Microsoft attempt to expand Halo Online to additional territories and platforms.
