That strange movement in the ground you feel is the Earth screeching to a grinding halt for a brief moment as we proudly announce world-shaking news: there may be a live-action television version of The Legend of Zelda.
The news comes out of a Wall Street Journal blog, which cites a "person familiar with the matter" who is claiming that online video-streaming service Netflix is making a TV series based around the iconic Nintendo franchise, describing it as a "Game of Thrones for a family audience." The show will reportedly borrow heavily from the games, with it telling the story of a young boy named Link who must travel the land of Hyrule to save it and its princess, Zelda.
Netflix is no longer new to the original programming frontier, with several critically-acclaimed original series, including Bojack Horseman, House of Cards, and Orange is the New Black.
No names or writers are attached yet, so this may still be in the very, very early stages of production or merely just a rumor. However, when asked for comment, Netflix declined to discuss it.
Is it possible the company's just hiding its hand for the time being? GameRevolution will be sure to keep you updated on any developments.
