South Park: The Stick of Truth DLC Was More Probable Before “It Moved to Ubisoft”

Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart, in an interview with Polygon, believes that for the critically-acclaimed South Park: The Stick of Truth, both Ubisoft and South Park "are done."

There are no plans for downloadable content for the licensed game, despite it being the perfect example of a licensed game that works. Given its tumultuous shift from defunct publisher THQ to Ubisoft, and Ubisoft getting the publishing rights to the title at auction "for 15 to 20 cents on the dollar," the main priority of South Park Digital Studios was to finish the game.

From that point on, DLC was barely a footnote in future discussion:

"We had always talks about it, extending the story through DLC, it was just stuff on paper. But it never went beyond talking about it. That was when THQ was involved. When it moved to Ubisoft, there was more pressure to get it done. I think that became the priority, so we got it done."

While Matt Stone devoted time to working with the developers in 2013, he needed to return to his regular duties on the show after the game was finished.

At this point, I don't believe DLC is the right call for extending the story, as much as I think the last act was cut fairly short. I would rather see a full-on sequel or leave the game as it stands now. What do you think?
