Rockstar Ships Over 45 Million Copies of GTA V

Grand Theft Auto V, the latest entry in Rockstar Games' popular open-world action franchise, has shipped over 45 million copies, Take-Two has announced.

Just a couple months ago, GTA V was released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, rejuvenating interest in the game after its release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. In fact, a whopping 10 million copies of the new-gen versions have already been shipped since its launch for Sony and Microsoft's latest platforms.

It's important to note that these figures are in regard to units sold to retailers, not through to consumers. Still impressive nonetheless.

You can expect that number to grow even higher on March 24, when the long-awaited PC version arrives in stores.

Have you purchased Grand Theft Auto V on last-gen and current-gen hardware? Do you plan on picking up a copy for PC, too? I can only imagine what modders will do in Rockstar's massive open world.
