Pokemon TCG Pocket players are questioning if there’s a Wonder Pick trick, glitch, or exploit to help get the card they want. After all, nothing is more disappointing than seeing the card you need to complete a goal and receiving something different when you try to get it. However, this game isn’t very forgiving regarding what cards you receive, and the answer isn’t a good one.
How Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick works
There’s no Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick trick, glitch, or exploit. The feature is meant to make you think there’s some chance to influence the card you receive, but this isn’t the case.
Wonder Pick works similarly to the shell game. You pick a pack that another player has opened previously and get to keep whichever card you choose. Unless you just started playing, you’ll probably just want one of the available cards (typically the rarest). After being shown, the five cards are turned face down and shuffled, and you can choose one of them.
The catch in Pokemon TCG Pocket is that there’s no way for you to predict which card is which once they’re shuffled. Some players assumed that the animation that is played would allow you to see where each card goes, but that’s not the case. You have a 1-in-5 chance of choosing the card you want; there’s no way to increase those odds. There’s no strategy to use, and there’s no mercy mechanic in play.
Some players have developed elaborate theories to get a desired card that they swear by. However, there’s no evidence that Wonder Pick works in Pokemon TCG Pocket by any other mechanic than a simple shuffle.
The advantage of Wonder Pick is that you have a 20% chance to get any of the five cards available. These odds are significantly better than those you face when opening packs and make using the mechanic worth it.
