The Sorcerer is extremely powerful in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but the best Sorcerer spells come from Maister Skills. Two Sorcerer Maisters offer quests that grant you the Maelstrom and Meteoron skills, which are ridiculously powerful. Here’s where to find them and how to complete their questlines.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 best Sorcerer skills
The two best Sorcerer skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are Maelstrom and Meteoron:
- Maelstrom: Conjurs a colossal tornado that tosses foes into the air and causes massive damage. It is best used in confined spaces.
- Meteron: Summons five meteors which rain down on the enemy. Best used in open areas.
While these two spells will one-shot even giant monsters like Griffins and Cyclops, they have one drawback. They both have long casting times and are unaffected by quickspell. However, I’ve found that you can usually buy enough time to cast them if you send your pawns ahead to draw aggro and drop a High Thundermine nearby to stun mobs that break through.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer Maister locations
There are two Sorcerer Maisters, but their quests are interlinked. Here are their locations:
- Myrddin: The east part of Checkpoint Rest Town.
- Trysha: A cabin north of Melve.
Maelstrom Spell Location
When you go to visit Myrddin for the first time in Dragon’s Dogma 2, make sure you’re wearing the Courtly Tunic and Breaches. Otherwise, he’ll turn you away.
When you wear the right attire and speak with him, he’ll ask you to gather five tomes. Here are their locations:
- Fulminous Shield: Buy this book in Melve from the trader near the gate.
- Howling Blizzard: You can find this alongside Howling Blizzard in a chest in Waterfall Cave. It’s in the last chamber, and you’ll have to fight a Lich when you pick it up.
- Let There Be Light: This is in a room on the second floor of Myrddin’s manor. However, you can’t just head up there and grab it, or he’ll attack you. Instead, exit the manor and climb the crumbled wall. You can then jump over to a balcony and enter the second floor to grab this tome.
- Nation’s Death Knell: You can find this alongside Howling Blizzard in a chest in Waterfall Cave.
- Towering Earth: You can get this from Magistrate Waldhar once he’s moved to the Gracious Hands vault.
You only need to give three of these to Myrddin to finish his quest. However, if you want to complete both Sorcerer Maister questlines, you must take an extra step.
Unfortunately, Trysha also wants these tomes, so you need to have forgeries made of three of the books. You’ll have to visit the forger in Checkpoint Rest Town, spend 6,000 Gold, and wait two days for each of these to be made.
Once you have the forged tomes, revisit Myrddin and give them to him. He’ll give you Myrddin’s Chronicle, which will teach you Maelstrom.
Meteoron Spell Location
Now, head north of Melve and find Eini’s house. Inside, you’ll discover Eini and Trysha. Trysha has been sent here by her father (Myrddin) and wants to learn magic, but Eini forbids it.
Wait until Eini leaves the house and give Trysha all five grimoires. Then, head to the nearby campfire and pass the night. When you awake, head back toward the cabin, and you’ll hear a scream.
Unfortunately, Trysha has lost control of her magical abilities and is slinging spells everywhere. You’ll need to dodge her magic until she exhausts herself, then tackle and grab her. That’ll subdue her, and Eini will take her home to rest.
Now, rest at the campfire nearby for three days and return to the cabin.
Trysha will have recovered, and she’ll give you the scroll to learn Meteoron. Make sure to talk to Eini, too, because she’ll give you the scroll to learn the Mage Maister skill Celestial Paean.
