New players for may be confused on how to send stars in Monopoly Go and how to trade them to earn stickers from another player. If you have gone on various trading communities for the game on Discord, Reddit, or other sites, you may not know what it means when players ask you to give stars so that you can get a specific sticker you need from them. Sending a sticker to a friend is easy. But since the most common and easiest way to trade stickers is through the Safe Sticker feature, you may not know what this alternate method of sending stars is about and why players would want to request stars in the the first place. Here’s everything you need to know about sending stars in Monopoly Go.
What does it mean to send stars in Monopoly Go?
When someone asks to send stars in Monopoly Go, the person wants you to trade multiple stickers for one of theirs.
Each sticker’s value is tied to its rarity, so a 4-star sticker is worth exactly that: 4 stars. If a player asks you to trade 15 stars for a sticker, you need to put up stickers that total 15 stars. How you do that is up to you; for instance, you could send five 3-star stickers or three 5-star stickers. That said, it’s obvious that duplicate 5-star stickers are very valuable, so sending stars is usually made up of duplicate 3-star and/or 4-star stickers that are not from a prestige set.
Of course, this all depends on how many daily trades you have left. Since you can only send five stickers a day, the most you can send is 25 stars. So if someone is requesting more than 25 stars, the person is assuming that you have an alt account or will be sending more stickers the following day.
Should you trade stars for stickers in Monopoly Go?
Yes, you should trade stickers for stars in certain instances, notably if you are trying to open the sticker vault.
The pink sticker vault requires that you have 1000 stars to open it, which at the time of writing, gives you a blue sticker pack, purple sticker pack, and a Wild Sticker that will allow you to claim any missing sticker you need to complete your album. Because of this, you will want to purchase this vault if you’re only a few stickers away from finishing your album or if there’s a particularly tricky gold sticker you want to obtain. If you have duplicate 5-star stickers and you need a gold sticker to finish an album, you might as well trade them away for stars to do so. (Either way, you will want to have an active Sticker Boom boost so that you’ll get more stickers out of the packs in the sticker vault.)
Also, you should consider accumulating stars near the deadline of a sticker album. Any leftover stars you have when the countdown clock hits zero on an album will be automatically used for purchasing a sticker vault for the next album. Having 250 to 499 stars will open the green vault; 500 to 999 stars will open the blue vault; and 1000 or more stars will open the purple vault. This will give you a solid head start for the following sticker album.
However, you should be careful with any trades that involve trading stars. Since completing the trade usually requires that one person send more stickers than another, you have to trust that someone sends all of the stickers they have offered. That is, you can’t use the Safe Trading feature for all of the transactions. This means that you can get easily swindled out of a deal, so we recommend going to a Monopoly Go Discord that offers trading and some kind of reputation system so that you have some recourse in case something goes wrong with the exchange.
