If you explored the basement of the nursing home in Alan Wake 2 and are wondering what to do with the fuse you found. It may seem like you’ve run into a bug. The panel in the break room has both its fuses, and there’s no way to insert it into the generator. So, is there a fuse bug in Alan Wake 2, or is the game just being obtuse about where you’re supposed to use it?
Where am I supposed to use the nursing home fuse in Alan Wake 2?
It’s possible to get the nursing home fuse before you need it in Alan Wake 2. Most situations in the game involve you finding a problem and then seeking out the item required to solve it. However, this is one of the few times you can perform a bit of a sequence break.
After Tor enters the Overlap, you’ll talk to Rose and get her key fob, which allows you to re-enter the manor to seek the record. However, you can opt to explore the basement first, as the door is unlocked. If you look through it, you’ll see references to a fuse and eventually find one in a locked toolbox. However, if you haven’t visited the manor first, you can’t use it yet.
You will only need to use the fuse in the nursing home once you try to enter the Old Gods of Asgard Museum. When you try to do so, Cynthia will blow the fuse. Now, you’ll have to descend into the basement and replace the fuse in the panel in the Break Room.
Although it’s probably too late now, I recommend skipping the basement until you head back into the house. Otherwise, this bit is confusing. You’ll explore the basement for seemingly no reason and then have to return and go through it again, which makes the whole thing very anti-climatic.
