Alan Wake 2 Locked Red Boxes: How to Find the Screwdriver Location

The Alan Wake 2 locked red boxes are all over the Watery, Cauldron Lake, and the surrounding areas. However, they do not need to be unlocked, only broken, as players need to get the screwdriver to pop them open. Here’s how to open the locked red boxes in Alan Wake 2 and how to get the screwdriver.

How to get the screwdriver and unlock the locked red boxes in Alan Wake 2

To open the locked red boxes in Alan Wake 2, you will need to wait and get the screwdriver first. This will take multiple hours of play and it is part of the main campaign, so it is not missable.

You can get the screwdriver while playing as Saga while she’s on her trip to Watery. She will have to go to a trailer park and then venture through a dilapidated theme park called Coffee World. Going up to the gift shop in Coffee World will more clearly point out that you need the screwdriver to open the door.

Continue forward and make your way to the ride called The Percolator, which is surrounded by yellow lights. Be prepared for a fight once you get near the ride, as there are two cult members inside. Kill them and then make your way to the back of the ride. There will be a small metal object with a screwdriver on top. Grab it and head back to the gift shop.

While you can continue on with the mission, the screwdriver is how you will pop the small locks off red boxes in the future. These will contain all sorts of supplies, which gives you more of a reason to travel back to Cauldron Lake since that area had more than a few locked boxes. The screwdriver won’t unlock the longer chains, though, as those take a different tool entirely.
