Spiderman 2 Sandman Boss Fight: How to Damage Him

The Spiderman 2 Sandman boss fight is the first big encounter that players go up against. It’s a spectacle that also acts as a tutorial and subtle setup for the story. However, it can have some moments that can be a little confusing. Here’s how to damage Sandman in the boss fight in Spiderman 2 in the “Surface Tension” mission.

To damage Sandman in Spiderman 2 in the “Surface Tension” mission, you will have to adapt to whatever phase of the boss fight you are in. During the first phase as Peter Parker (after dodging his blade attacks), you can hurt Sandman by using L1 and R1 to throw objects at him when prompted. Repeat this until the next phase starts (using Triangle to web strike him when prompted) and be sure to use the Circle button to dodge attacks.

After a short handful of scenes that have Peter running through a building and fighting small sand people, you will start playing as Miles Morales. To beat Sandman as Miles, you will have to use your web shooters. You will not be able to do damage in another way while playing as Miles, as this is the tutorial part pointing players toward using their web shooters. Mash the R1 button to web Sandman up and then press Triangle when prompted to web zip to him.

When you press Triangle, you will have to mash the Square button to hit him with giant webbed clumps of sand. Repeat this cycle of webbing, pressing Triangle, and mashing Square (while dodging attacks, too) to get past this stage. Be sure to keep this up after Sandman throws Miles far away, as this phase plays by the same rules.

This fight has a few more phases with battles against smaller sand people and gliding. It’s all relatively straightforward, but be sure to look out for the Triangle button prompt, as that is usually the key to moving forward.
