The Baldur’s Gate 3 Gith Egg is an important quest item that has significant consequences depending on whether you keep it or give it to Lady Esther. You’ll meet Esther along the Mountain Pass as one possible path toward Act 2 and she requests that your party steal a Githyanki Egg from the nearby Creche Y’llek within the Rosymorn Monastery. You can grab the egg through conversation or stealth, but either way, you still have a choice to make on what to do with the unhatched child inside. Here’s whether you should keep, sell, or give the Gith Egg away in BG3.
Should you keep or give Baldur’s Gate 3 Gith Egg?
You should keep the Gith Egg and not give it away to Lady Esther.
From the information we’ve gathered so far from the BG3 community, giving the Githyanki Egg to Lady Esther does not lead to a rosy outcome. Both you and Esther may have good intentions, but you’ll discover what happens when you finally reach the city of Baldur’s Gate. If you head down a hatch at a lodge located in the Lower City at coordinates X -188, Y -82, you will find that the child was too indoctrinated and kills everyone, believing that they were evil.
You also have the choice of not fulfilling Lady Esther’s request of course, though it may not sit right with you for the creche to keep the egg either. One alternate solution is to hand Esther the owlbear egg instead, which we hope you have already sold at this point. We’re not sure how the outcome differs if you trick her with this egg, but it should be less gruesome than what happens with the child.
That said, it’s also unclear at this point whether you can hatch the Gith Egg yourself, perhaps with the assistance of Lae’zel. We believe the answer is no, considering that many people have finished the game and there’s still no information on this. But we’ll update this article if this changes.
