Remnant 2 handler dog not reviving bug

Remnant 2 Handler Dog Revive Not Working in Solo: Is Bonded Perk Bugged?

As a Handler in Remnant 2, you get a dog partner that can revive you. The Bonded perk allows the dog to bring you back to life if you’re downed as long as you have a Relic charge. However, sometimes you’ll take a killing blow, and the dog won’t attempt to revive you at all. When this happens, you might think you’ve encountered a bug, but that’s not necessarily the case.

Handler dog not reviving me in solo in Remnant 2

The Handler is the best archetype to start with as a solo player in Remnant 2 because the dog will revive you when you’re downed. This eliminates a significant disadvantage of a single-player campaign. However, sometimes the Bonded perk might seem like it’s bugged since the dog won’t try to resurrect you when you’re downed.

To determine whether you’re facing a bug or not, let’s look at how the Bonded perk works. The game text describes it thusly:

“When the Handler is downed, Companion will attempt to revive them at 50% Max Health. Can be used to revive allies with Command. Downed ally must have a Relic charge.”

So, you have to meet four requirements for Bonded to work:

  • Handler must be your primary archetype.
  • The dog must be alive when you’re downed.
  • You (or an ally) must have a minimum of one Relic charge remaining.
  • The skill must not be in cooldown.

If those conditions are met, the dog should immediately rush to you and revive you at 50% health. What the description doesn’t tell you is that Bonded doesn’t work after an instant kill attack, even if all other requirements are fulfilled.

Some bosses, like Magister Dullain and the Nightweaver, have attacks that instantly kill a player. You’ll know you’ve been hit by one of these when a small cutscene plays out, showing a unique death animation for your character. When this occurs, you’re faced with an instant game over.

So, if the dog doesn’t revive you in Remnant 2, even though you meet the right conditions, it’s likely because you got hit with one of these special attacks. It’s possible the revive could get bugged somehow, but in my experience, it works as designed.
