Threads Access PC Desktop Version

Threads Access on PC: Is There a Desktop Browser-Based Web Version?

Threads access on PC and whether there’s a desktop web version of the app is something users of the new social platform by Meta’s Instagram are looking for. Threads has been described as a mobile-only app as it’s available for download on Android and iPhone. But many people want to be able to access Threads through a browser, like Chrome or Firefox, in much the same way as Twitter. Here’s whether Threads can be accessed on PC and Mac through a desktop browser version of the app.

Does Threads have a desktop web version?

No, Threads does not have a desktop web version on PC, but there are hints that one is in development.

More Threads

When Threads launched on July 6, 2023, a desktop version of the app was live for a brief amount of time before Meta took it down. It’s unclear if this was a mistake or if Meta decided to remove it temporarily due to bugs, but we believe it’s the former rather the latter. Screenshots of the desktop version have been confirmed and, according to TechRadar, users could even click the app’s logo at the top of the app to toggle Dark Mode on or off.

Heading to the official website for Threads only reveals a QR code, links to download the app on mobile, and swirling logo made out of colorful dots. If you’re really looking to be able to access Threads on PC, you can either use a mobile emulator like BlueStacks or WSATools so that you can run an APK of the app on desktop.

According to Forbes, the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri has stated that Meta is working on a read-only “www” desktop version of the app, along with a following-only timeline feature. Hopefully, this means it’s also working on a full-fledged PC version of Threads that doesn’t require a phone for access.
