Resident Evil 4 Remake: Is There a New Game Plus and What Carries Over to Second Playthrough?

There is a New Game Plus in Resident Evil 4 Remake, but not everything carries over. Additionally, you’ll find that there are some caveats to starting a second playthrough that might have you thinking twice about using New Game Plus mode.

Is There a New Game Plus mode in Resident Evil 4 remake?

You unlock New Game Plus mode in Resident Evil 4 remake by completing the game. You’ll get the opportunity to save after the credits roll, and then you can load it to start a second playthrough.

However, there are some caveats to New Game Plus:

  • You can only play on the same difficulty that you did on your first playthrough.
  • You’re disqualified from achieving S+ Rank.

So, if you want to try the game on a harder setting or go for the best rank, you’ll want to start a completely new game.

What carries over to New Game Plus?

The following things carry over to New Game Plus in Resident Evil 4 remake:

  • All shooting range levels are unlocked (but progress is reset).
  • Any Clockwork Castellians you’ve found will still be gone
  • Health upgrades.
  • Merchant’s inventory at the end of the game.
  • Weapon upgrades.
  • Your inventory at the end of the game.
  • Your items in storage.

Anything other than the above is reset at the start of a second playthrough.
