With the streaming success of the new Predator movie on Hulu, Prey, fans are wondering if and when we will be able to see Prey 2. This sci-fi horror action franchise that kicked off in 1987 with an Arnold Schwarzenegger action film has seen new sequels for decades. Now that Prey has proven to be a triumph for the long-running series, this is when we may be getting a look at Prey 2.
Will there be a Prey 2?
There is currently no confirmed sequel to Prey. In an interview with TimeOut, Prey director Dan Trachtenberg spoke about the possibilities of a new movie in the Predator series. He states, “There are a lot of exciting ideas for what could be next for the franchise. The things that most excite me are the boldest swings, and I think there’s scope to do other things that haven’t been done before.”
Prey 2 rumors
There is no telling when we will get a release date for the next Predator movie. In the past, years have gone by between Predator installments, but with the positive critical reception to Prey, we could be getting a sequel as soon as 2024 or 2025.
We do not yet know what a story for Prey 2 would be and whether it would be a direct sequel with Amber Midthunder returning as Naru or if it will go down another route. Historically, each movie in the Predator series has featured an entirely new cast. However, the end credits of Prey feature three Predator spaceships arriving in Comanche territory. It is possible that the new sequel could shed more light on this event and reveal how they get the flintlock pistol back from them.
There is currently no telling what the future holds for the Predator series, but with such a cool villain and concept, it’s only a matter of time before we see another visit from the Predator.
